General FAQ

What is the difference between a compatible and remanufactured ink cartridge?

A compatible ink cartridge is designed to resemble the genuine (OEM) cartridge closely but is not identical in appearance. The ink is also formulated to be as closely similar to the original ink. Remanufactured cartridges use old (cleaned and refurbished) cartridges and fill them with new printer ink.

When ink is present at the bottom of an inkjet printer, is it because of faulty inkjet printer cartridges?

Inkjet printers have a component called reservoir or spitoon (usually a tray or piece of absorbent foam) that is responsible for collecting the ink taken from the cartridge while priming the printer. The ink that is not absorbed properly can collect at the bottom of the printer. It is usually not because of a leaky ink cartridge and more likely due to the normal functioning of the inkjet printer. The printer may need to be serviced if excessive ink is collected often.

What is the best way to store an ink cartridge?

Ink cartridges are even more susceptible than toner cartridges to dry out and become unusable if not stored correctly. While the package and clip/tape are essential for best storage, you can keep the cartridge upright in a tub with an airtight lid. Place a damp tissue or cloth inside this container to prevent the ink from drying out. Ensure that the nozzles are facing upwards and nothing is touching them.
